MARO is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer from Lisbon, Portugal. After graduating from Berklee College of Music (Boston), she debuted her career in 2018, releasing five albums and an EP. She later joined Jacob Collier on his DJESSE World Tour as part of the band, and in those years opened for artists including Jessie J, Gipsy Kings, Charlotte Cardin, and The Paper Kites.
In 2020, she created ITSAME, MARO! — a 100-episode collaboration series with artists from around the world, including Eric Clapton, Pablo Alborán, Lizzy McAlpine, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, ANAVITÓRIA, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria Gadú, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso, and Lennon Stella.
MARO won the Festival da Canção and represented Portugal at Eurovision 2022 with “saudade, saudade”, finishing in the top 10. She later released can you see me?, an album blending influences from pop, trap, world, and folk music.
In April 2023, MARO released hortelã, an acoustic trio album with Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso and Pau Figueres. Mostly sung in Portuguese, the album won the José Afonso Award for Portuguese Album of the Year.
Following their collaboration on the EP PIRILAMPO, MARO and NASAYA released LIFELINE in 2024, introducing a more electronic sound that marked a stylistic shift from her prior acoustic work.
Over the past three years, MARO has toured globally, performing to sold-out venues with both her acoustic trio and electronic duo. She has shared major stages with Jacob Collier, Odesza, and Parcels, and opened arenas on Shawn Mendes’ summer tour.
Announcing her new album SO MUCH HAS CHANGED — a celebration of a brighter, more upbeat sound — MARO now embarks on a fresh chapter, debuting a full-band live show for audiences worldwide in 2026.
